IN SUPPORT OF THE INSTITUTE OF PHILOSOPHY OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES IN MOSCOW
We are deeply concerned with the current situation at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences which is to be evicted from its traditional seat on Volhonka Street in central Moscow. We have always profitted from mutual collaboration with the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences and its scholars, and we have certainly benefitted from the contact with our colleagues there for many years. Due to the quality of its scientific work, this organization has achieved a prominent position and a solid international reputation.
Being fully aware of the importance of this Institute toward the implementation of the social role of philosophy and allied humanities in the Russian Federation, I am firmly convinced that our colleagues' work deserves not only respect but also genuine support from the responsible authorities.
Allow me to express the fullest sympathy and support for the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Science in this difficult situation, in my name and on behalf of my colleagues of the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences. We remain acutely aware of the Institute's difficult situation and believe that its activity in its traditional seat in the centre of Moscow will be continued.
